After a Russian Su-24 jet bomber was downed by Turkey’s F-16 fighter jet. Two Russian pilots immediately ejected and descended with a parachute, both were shot dead by Turkmen forces. A Reuters reports citing a deputy commander of a Turkmen brigade in Syria.
Alpaslan Celik, a deputy commander of a Syrian Turkmen brigade said, “Our comrades opened fire into the air and they died in the air, both of the pilots were dead on retrieval.”
According to a Reuters report, Celik was speaking near the Syrian village of Yamadi, while he held a piece of a pilot parachute.
One of the pilots was dead upon hitting the ground and after being shot while descending in his parachute, according to a spokesman for the rebel group that captured him.
