Bulacan Governor Wilhelmino Alvarado said yesterday that (RDC) is pushing for the bullet train system or restore the old Northrail project plan linking Metro Manila to the Clark international airport in Pampanga.

According to Governor Alvarado, the proposed bullet train system would benefit the economy of Central Luzon, especially in the provinces of Pampanga, Bulacan, Zambales, Bataan, Nueva Ecija, Tarlac, and Aurora.

In the event that the arrangement pushes through, the train will be divided into a different class of train coaches, the economy class, business class and executive class aside from its freight lines.

Alvarado said in a recent meeting with RDC officials in Bulacan, Department of Transportation and Communications (DOTC), headed by Deo Manalo director of project development service revealed that the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) had expressed interest in rehabilitating the Northrail project.

He said, “The lifestyle of the people in Central Luzon will be revved up and travel time will be lessened.”

RDC will make an immediate endorsement to President Aquino to label the bullet train project a priority this year. Alvarado added. – Carl E.
