The Department of National Defense (DND) is sending more military troops or five battalions to Sulu to terminate and wipe out the remaining Abu Sayyaf bandit group.

Defense Secretary Delfin Lorenzana said “It is unfortunate that a number of troops lost their lives. However, we are going full force and have an all-out operation. We are adding 5 battalions. That will be only in Sulu.”

The announcement came after no less than 15 soldiers died in a firefight with the Abu Sayyaf Group.

Presidential Spokesman Ernesto Abella told reporters in a news briefing Tuesday that we are adding 5 battalions more. The President is more focused on making sure that the threat from Abu Sayyaf should be terminated as soon as possible.”

President Rodrigo Duterte earlier said that the Abu Sayyaf lost his trust, as he ordered the military and the police to “destroy them because they are criminals.”

President Duterte said that the government has all the resources to annihilate the Abu Sayyaf and finish the group. – JCE.

  1. Headline: “…sends five battalion soldier to Sulu,” is such poor English. Who writes and edits these articles for crying out loud? Also, can you please elaborate more on what type of battalions are being deployed? Army? Marine Corps? Unit designation? Support assets and task organization would be helpful too. Are you just writing for the uneducated masses?
