A total of 992 missiles with 2.75-inch diameter and 1,040 missile motors had been delivered to the Philippines by the United States on July 29, under the Joint United States Military Assistance Group (JUSMAG), a report from the US embassy in Manila said.
The report said that the Mutual Logistics Support Agreement (MLSA) signed between the Philippines and the United States will greatly serve to enhance the capabilities of the Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP).
It said in a report that through the MLSA, the AFP is able to accelerate the process of selecting and acquiring needed munitions and equipment from the US military inventory reserved for allies and close partners of the United States.
It also said that the transfer of weapons and equipment is part of a series of upcoming transfers from the US military to multiple branches of the AFP through both MLSA and the security assistance program.
The transfer includes 2 new Cessna 208B intelligence, surveillance, reconnaissance plane, delivered on July 27 to the Philippine Air Force, with a total cost of Php 1.67 billion, under the US National Defense Authorization Act Building Partnership Capacity Program.
