LTGEN. Jeffrey F. Delgado a commanding general of the Philippine Air Force, AFP had the privilege to ride the brand-new PAF’s FA-50PH lead-in fighter jet at the Sancheon Air Force Base in South Korea last November 6, 2015.

During his flight, LTGEN. Jeffrey F. Delgado made him earn a “Mach Buster Plaque” for breaking the sound barrier of Mach 1.0. He flew at a speed of Mach 1.2 or around 1,482 kilometers per hour.

The Philippines brand new FA-50ph fighter jet

His ride gave the CG, PAF a first-hand experience on the state-of-the-art, supersonic, fly-by-wire FA-50PH lead-in fighter aircraft, the Air Defense Wing fighter pilots will be flying in the future.

The Philippines acquires 1 squadron of FA-50PH which is a part of the Philippine Air Force PAF’s modernization program and this will serve as a lead-in fighter aircraft that will protect and guard the West Philippine sea against any intrusions. -Carl E.
