In the coming days the BRP Tarlac (LD-601) The Philippine Navy’s first Strategic Sealift Vessel (SSV) is now preparing to sail to the Philippines.

This is according to a Facebook page posted by the pioneering Philippine Navy crew assigned to bring home the brandnew ship.

“Happy 2nd Monthsary for the Pioneering Crew of the SSV1. Few more days to come,we will be ready sailing back to our nation. HOOYAH!” the crew said April 20.

BRP Tarlac will be the lead ship of her class of Philippine Navy landing platform docks. The ship was laid down by the PT PAL shipyard in Indonesia on June 5, 2015, and launched on January 17, 2016, and officially completed April 4.

The ship is currently undergoing sea trials and its expected delivery date is before the 118th founding anniversary of Philippine Navy in May 20. - Robert Beerlak
